Fall Table Runner Finished

I've finished the table runner.

The pattern is  -White Christmas- by Cheryl Goss at Willowberry Designs
The pattern was very easy to follow, and I can see myself making many of these in different themes.

Cheryl's pattern has beautiful holly leaves and berries in two of the corners.  I had thought of embroidering maple leaves, but then I would have had to come up with a leaf pattern, and it all seemed like more than I wanted to get into right now.

I thought  that perhaps I could put yo-yo's in the corner -- looks somewhat like little mums-- but then decided against it as it would be like me to set a glass or something down on the table and it would spill.  I had made only 2 in fall colors when I decided against it,  so I added a white to just get an idea of how it would look.

Table Runner

The project I'm starting now is a table runner.

The pattern is from the Christmas In July online event that I took.  It was designed by Chreyl Goss of Willowberry Designs .

While I'm waiting for the kit I ordered to arrive,  I decided to make one that I can use this  fall.

I had  made a quilt for my daughter out of this fabric.

I just love the shades of  orange, red, brown and blue.

The blue has little leaves on it--just right for fall.  Check back to see the finished product.  I'm hoping to have it finished soon!!!

July Happy for Holiday Happy

Look what came in the mail last week

The Holiday Happy fabric I sent for from the Fat Quarter Shop.
While "surfing" various blogs, last week, I came across  the Happy Zombie web site.
The fabric is from Lecien.  At their web site they have the the pattern,  Glow Happy as a free PDF  for download.
It's designed by Monica Solorio-Snow, who's web site is Happy Zombie.

I was so busy with my scallop quilt ---which I have finished and am using  YEA!!!---   the Friday Night Sew-In, and my  Christmas In July  projects,  that I wouldn't let myself open the two packages.  What self control-- I know.  It was fun to keep looking at the neatly folder fabric in the plastic bags though.

There are 3 colors colors in the Jelly Bean Collection -  Blue

Pink

Yellow
and 3 colors in the Candy Cane Collections

Green

Red

Light Green

And then there is this really cute panel of Santa's

This is the smallest--Isn't he cute?

Monica-- The Happy Zombie-- has some "little Gnoma Claus Bags" at her site (scroll down this link) that are really cute-- she says she will have a pattern soon!!!!

Well out of the blue I found this site and now have some fun new projects to work on.  Spend some time "surfing" blogs and see what you can find!

I did it!!! sort of

I stayed up and worked on my scallop quilt.

I was hoping to finish sewing the binding, BUT I didn't.
Hand sewing the binding was taking to long and at 3:05 am I decided to call it quits.  I wanted this to be a light summer  quilt, so I didn't line it with any batting.  I just put a white backing on it.
While sewing the binding, it was quite time consuming trying to only grab the one piece of fabric with the needle, so the thread didn't show on the front.

I like how it is turning out-- I like the short strips of the different colored polka dot fabric in the binding.

This was my own design and to read more about it please scroll down to my July 2009 post about it.  Seems like it is about time I finish it doesn't it???

Friday Night Sew-In!!!!

It's Friday night and time for the great Sew-In.  I'm still deciding what to work on.
Here are some of my options:

I have these 2 Christmas quilts--  I need to come up with something for backings-- meaning deciding if I want a pieced backing or just one piece of fabric.  I do like a backing with some of the fabric from the front used in large blocks on the back.  Then it needs to be "sandwiched " and quilted.

Next Option is my Hawaiian quilt.  This also needs to be sandwiched and quilted.

And then there is my scallop quilt-  My own design---This was fun. Needed to be made wider-- (after of course I have quilted it)-- I have already added 2 more rows of scallops---So I have to take the basting pins out-cut the edges and add a pretty binding.

My rocker needs a cushion.  I have this nice corduroy fabric.

My taffeta quilt.  The purple/blue taffeta is the front and the pretty flowered cotton, is the back.  It needs to be quilted.  I can see how I want to free motion quilt this in my head.  Big yellow daisy like flowers around the quilt.  However my ability does not come up to my vision.  I have been practicing but I still need more work.

And then there is my bucket of monkeys.  19 sock monkeys in various states of creation!!

See my dilemma?  Well, I better decide- get things straightened  up and start Friday Night Sew-In!!!

More on Window Quilts!!

I have finished my smaller valance window quilts and their up.

I'm not sure if I would like them better if I lowered the dowel that their on a little.  Same with the door window quilts.

Perhaps down a little-- I'm still pondering this.
I'm also coming up with some new ideas for additional window quilts, but they are on hold while I sew away on my Christmas in July projects.  It has been alot of fun-- Oh, the wonderful projects we have been treated to!!!

As you can see, I have added a link on the side to the Friday Night Sew-in.  check it out.  Sounds like a lot fun.  I'm getting photos of just SOME of the many projects that I  need to finish.  This is inspiring me to get things together and ready to work on Friday night.  I'm excited--- Hope to post the photos tomorrow.

Take care--Happy Quilting

Window Quilts

Quite some time ago I made 8 of these little pineapple valance's, from a pattern in a Debby Mumm book, to hang in my kitchen windows.

This winter I found some cute embroidery designs and decided to try to make some new "curtains" for my windows.

I like the way they turned out and am now on a roll with new ideas and designs--also a new name --Window Quilts--

Here are the newest window quilts I have made.
I'm now working on some small "quilts, for  the top of the window.  When I finish one I will post the picture.

I have also joined a "Christmas In July" group      http://qfdcreative.com.au/blog/christmas-in-july.html
It has been great, with something going on every day.  I'm working on a Christmas  wall hanging with a ----hand embroidered----design in the center.  I can't believe I tackled this, but it was really quiet easy and lots of fun.  I may be hooked on that as well.  One of the instructors has a blog--Cinderberry Stitches-- that I go to often.  Natalie does just beautiful work
